5 Perfect Ways to Pop the Question | Proposal Ideas 2020

Are You Wondering How You Are Going to Pop the Question?

Taking that step to ask your partner if they will spend the rest of their life with you can be a daunting task. However, you want to make sure that you’ve done it right. Whether you choose a grand and elaborate gesture or you opt for a low-key private proposal, the point is to make it memorable. This is why we’ve put together this list of creative ways to pop the question.

1. Organize a Treasure Hunt

Clarence House is an excellent wedding venue where you can organize a treasure hunt that ultimately leads to your partner finding a note with your question. Boasting lush gardens and stunning ballrooms, this will be a treasure hunt they will never forget. We’re pros when it comes to helping out with marriage proposal ideas. Our wedding planners can give you good tips.

2. Digital Proposals Are So in These Days

One of the best proposal ideas we’ve seen to date is of a man who re-wrote his girlfriend’s favorite Disney-movie – sleeping beauty – and inserted his proposal into the film. Proceeding to rent out an entire movie theatre and invite friends and family, he really set the bar quite high for creativity, effort, and an all-time unforgettable proposal.

3. Flash Mob Proposals Are All the Rage

If you’re sure that your partner won’t mind all the attention then consider a flash mob proposal. If you really want to impress, don’t just hire others to dance but be involved as well like this man who organized a spectacular flashmob surprise proposal. Don’t forget to get permission to do this flashmob proposal in a public space.

4. Ink Your Proposal in the Sky

Is love making you feel dizzy and high? Well, why not take it to the sky – literally. Get a skywriter to creatively pop the question on your behalf. Not only is this ingenious but it’s very special. How often does one get a sky-high proposal? If you want to knock the wind right out of your partner, then this is definitely a one-sure fire way to do it.

5. Compose/Pick a Song and Sing It

Are you a musical couple? Does your significant other enjoy it when you serenade them in song? One of the proposal ideas that we’ve seen becoming a trend is composing a song and then singing it as a proposal. Not only is it personal, but it will leave a lasting memory making that song one of your all-time favorites as a couple.

Greenery Decor Ideas for Weddings
Wedding Planning

Trending Greenery Decor Ideas for 2020 Weddings

Did you know that the average couple spends $1400 on flowers for their wedding day?

Incorporating wedding greenery into your flower arrangements can cut this bill significantly. Roses, peonies and lilies look classically beautiful but it’s perfectly okay for you to opt for other ideas and using greenery in lieu of all the above is certainly one of the leading wedding trends of the year. Read on to find how you can use greenery to give your wedding that unique style.

1. Incorporate Garlands into Your Decor

Top of the list of greenery wedding trends for 2020 is garlands. Garlands are versatile. They are easy to incorporate into any wedding theme. Wedding garlands can be very detailed which makes them easy to adjust to give you just the effect you are looking for. Muted themes or over the top ideas all can be expressed using garlands. You can use them to line the aisles at your wedding venue to give them a fresh and chic look. Your tables can shine with these nature-inspired table runners. You can incorporate them into the bridal crown or drape them around the cake.

2. Swop Out Floral Centre Pieces for Potted Plants

Before you dismiss this greenery wedding décor idea for being too ridiculous and out of the box, give it some thought. Floral centrepieces have been ubiquitous with weddings since time memorial. They’ve been tried and tested and stood the test of time. But just because an idea has worked before does not rule out room for innovation. Potted plants can make perfect centrepieces for your tables. They come in many shapes and sizes and can be manicured or natural-looking and wild. These can then become part of your wedding favours. If you’re working with an event planner from your venue, ask them if they have potted plants for just such occasions.

3. Consider Bringing a Tree Indoors

This might seem like yet another outrageous greenery wedding reception idea but if done right it can make your wedding décor pop. The idea of bringing the outdoors inside is not a new one but bringing a tree indoors can make your ballroom have that extra edge. Wedding planners at exclusive venues often have such mobile trees that are used specifically for this. If they don’t, they might know where to hire one at a good price. A well-placed tree can make a room feel more intimate. You can use the branches to hang other bits of décor.

4. Have Fun with Your Greenery

If you have decided to use just greenery for your wedding or want to incorporate it into your florals, why not commit fully and have fun with it? You may feel like green can easily come across as one-toned, but this is far from the truth. Find greenery with many different shapes, shades of green and textures. Eucalyptus, jasmine vine and monstera leaves are some of the top pick you can use to give your greenery more depth. So get creative, feel free and create stunning one of kind bouquets and décor.

Don’t Miss These 10 Summer Wedding Ideas for 2020

Are you planning on having a summer wedding? This is an exciting season to have your big day. Getting a vision of what you want your day to look like on time will reduce your stress as you get closer to the day. We have put together 10 summer wedding trends for you to get inspired.

1. Go Bold with Your Decor

Summer is all about color and beauty all around. Your summer wedding reception décor should be the same. Adding a few statement pieces, incorporating innovative lighting and having flowers literally everywhere will make your wedding pop. Find a theme that resonates with you and then have fun with it, after all its summer!

2. Take Time to Plan the Guest Experience

After the wedding is over, most guests will not be able to remember the small details like your place settings or the style of champagne chutes you had. For it to be a day to remember, find something unexpected (think of unique performances or interactive entertainment) that your guests will always talk about.

3. Consider a Unique Altar or Backdrop

Having a unique altar is one of the most popular wedding ideas for summer 2020. This can be a focal point for all your décor and can be a conversation starter. Instead of the traditional altar or the usual flower backdrop, you can have a different theme for your altar. Let it reflect your interests and express your creativity.

4. Make Your Guests More Involved

Another idea for a summer wedding reception is to have your guests participate more in your wedding program. You can have them read aloud personalized wishes to the couple in-between different parts of your wedding reception.

5. Have an Art Inspired Wedding

If you are an art lover, this one is for you. Many couples are including works of art in their weddings. This can come in the form of a special art installation or one of a kind art inspired wedding invitations.

6. Set Up a ‘Touch-Up’ Booth

For many ladies, a lot of time is spent waiting in line for the bathroom so they can touch up their makeup. You can hire a makeup artist to set up a booth where the ladies can get a fresh coat of lip-gloss or redo a few curls.

7. Have Fun with Your Wedding Favours

You can have your guests personalize their wedding favors. You can set up a photo booth where guests can take fun photos, have them printed and added to a key chain with the names of the bride and groom and the date of the wedding.

8. Make Your Bouquet More Personal

You can have meaningful additions to your bouquet. A discreet photo of a loved one or jewelry from a special time in your life can make your bouquet more special.

9. Have Family Inspired Cocktails

Custom cocktails have been done before and they are usually inspired by the bride or groom. This summer let your inspiration come from your family. This is a fun way to honor them during your big day.

10. Make a Difference

Let this be a chance to reach out and share a message that’s close to your heart. You can add fun quotes to your wedding menus or your wedding program.

How Much Does a Wedding Celebrant Cost in Sydney

Prepping for your wedding and keen to find out how much does a wedding celebrant charge?

If you are planning your wedding, you will need a wedding celebrant. You may be wondering what a wedding celebrant is, what they do exactly, and why you need one. Finally, you may wonder how much does a wedding celebrant cost in Sydney? Read on to get answers to all your questions concerning wedding celebrants

What Is a Wedding Celebrant?

Wedding celebrants are people that conduct marriage ceremonies. In Australia, there are four categories of celebrants that are recognized under the law. These are commonwealth-registered marriage celebrants, commonwealth-registered religious marriage celebrants, ministers of religion who are from a recognized denomination, and state and territory officers. You can access a database with all the authorized wedding celebrants in Australia here.

Why Do I Need One?

Put simply, you need a wedding celebrant in order for your wedding to be considered legally binding. A wedding celebrant, however, will do more than just show up on the day and perform the ceremony. After you’ve booked a celebrant, you can start working on the wording of the ceremony. A good celebrant will not just recite a premade script but will tailor your ceremony for you. You can also get help with your vows to ensure they match before the day without having to read each other’s vows.

How Much Does a Wedding Celebrant Cost?

In Australia, the average cost of a wedding celebrant ranges from $350 to $1500. The cost of getting a wedding celebrant varies between states. Celebrants that come with the venue you choose are usually more affordable than independent ones. You can negotiate with your celebrant and settle for a price point that both of you are happy with. Some offer different packages with different price points and you can just choose which one best suits you.

What Is Factored in the Cost of a Wedding Celebrant?

The type of ceremony you are planning on having impacts on how much your wedding celebrant will charge you. A simple and straight forward ceremony will not be as pricey as a more elaborate one with a unique script or theme. The time of year you choose to have your wedding is also a factor. Summer ceremonies may cost more as the wedding celebrants will have many ceremonies to perform.

The cost of processing your wedding certificate is part of your celebrant’s charge. After the wedding, the celebrant must file all the legal forms you would have filled to births, deaths and marriage registry. This is so that your wedding is legally recognized. Finally, your wedding celebrant will have to travel to and from your wedding venue. If your venue is in a remote place, overnight accommodation is also factored into the cost of your wedding package.

Now that you have all there is to know about wedding celebrants and the associated wedding celebrant cost, contact one and start making plans for your big day!

5 Unique Wedding Trends Couples Need to Know About in 2020

Are you having your wedding in 2020 and could use some new wedding trends in 2020 inspiration?

A brand-new year brings new inspiration. This year, in particular, marks the beginning of a new decade. Doesn’t this excite you? With new seasons, décor ideas and wedding venue trends 2020 to look forward to this is the perfect time to start planning your wedding. We have put together a list of 2020 wedding trends that you can use as inspiration for your big day. Read on to find out unique ideas this new decade has in store.

1. Consider a Non-Traditional Venue

If you have a vision for your wedding that is not cookie-cutter, an unconventional wedding venue may just be for you. These are places that will make your wedding experience as opposed to just another weekend event. Festival sites, greenhouses, historical sites and summer retreat camps are a few ideas of unexpected venues you can choose from. Industrial-chic themes are also an option for those who opt to use revamped warehouses or former factories.

2. Consider Non-Traditional Flowers

This is a great way to minimize the amount of money you spend on your flowers. Roses, tulips and other traditional wedding flowers can be very expensive. Dried flowers like daisies and baby’s breath give a beautiful rustic look without breaking the bank. Foliage such as succulents, leaves, and twigs can all make unique looking flower arrangements. These are reusable meaning you can use the same flowers for your engagement party and your wedding as well.

3. Consider Adding Metallic Details

Among some of the leading 2020 wedding ideas for this year is the concept of going big and bold with metallic details. Copper, rose-gold, and titanium are very trendy and will make your wedding very unique. It is important to choose a metal that will accent your décor well and bring out your theme. Copper, in particular, makes a venue look cozy while bronze tends to give a medieval flair. Rustic bridal showers can also incorporate metallic hues if the colors are chosen well.

4. Consider a Dark Colour Palette

The decade of strictly using light colors for your wedding palette is behind us. 2020 wedding reception trends favor darker shades. Darker colors can be used to reflect the bride and groom’s personality, style and to tell the love story of the two. Greens, blues and reds are all bright and vibrant colors to put into your wedding palette. Do not shy away from fully expressing yourself this year. Go big, go bold!

5. Consider a Different Seating Arrangement

Instead of having the traditional long or round tables, new wedding trends in 2020 lean more towards a different type of seating arrangement. A 360-degree seating arrangement where you circularly arrange the chairs with the bride and groom in the middle is a unique way to make everyone feel involved in the wedding.

Top 6 Tips to Find Out Your Wedding Style

The faster you can decipher your wedding style, the sooner you can start planning your wedding. Here are tips to help you figure out your wedding style.

Planning a wedding can be a stressful affair. From the décor to the menu, to the venue and the clothing. It can be a nightmare. However, one simple way to figure out all these issues is to first find out what your own unique wedding style is. So, how do you go about finding what your wedding style is? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. Here are our top 6 practical tips.

1. Defining Style

Before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s define what the wedding style consists of. Wedding style refers to your choice of colors, décor, music, food as well as minor details that will make your day personal. Style can encompass traditional wedding themes or contemporary elements. But the bottom line is that style is personal. No one can choose it for you.

2. Look at What Inspires You

What type of weddings inspires you? Romantic elegant wedding theme, vintage weddings, rustic weddings, or traditional weddings? What inspires you is a great place to draw ideas of what your own style is.

3. Spend Time Thinking About Your Story

Spend time reflecting on your own story. What things make you and your partner unique? What are some of those elements that you’d like to come through on your big day? What do you want your guests to know about you as a couple? Do you guys share something unique that you’d like represented? Faith, religion, culture?

4. What Are Your Favourite Colours?

Colors affect all of us differently. We all have colors that make us feel happy and some colors we are immune to. What are those colors that conjure up happiness in you? There are some couples who like sombre dark colors and others who prefer bright and cheery ones. Settling on colors early on will make choosing décor, flowers, and bridesmaids dress easier.

5. What Type of Venue Appeals to You?

What wedding reception styles appeal to you? An outdoor wedding, barnyard wedding, chapel wedding, or destination wedding? The place you wish to say ‘i do’ will help you to figure out what your style is.

6. Create a Portfolio of Ideas

Spend time browsing picture-based sites like Pinterest and Instagram to see different wedding themes and styles. Doing this will show you what you like. You’ll also be able to visually see what you don’t like. Create a portfolio or folder of pictures to aid you in refining your own style.

7. Consult with Wedding Experts

Once you’ve got an idea of what you want, consider talking to a couple of wedding experts who’ll help you refine your vision. Wedding stylists and planners like the team at Clarence House can offer insightful recommendations and guidance. Armed with these top tips you’ll be able to sift through the different wedding styles to identify your own unique style.

traditional wedding reception timeline
Wedding Reception

Traditional Wedding Reception Timeline Guide

We’ve all attended weddings that have gone way past their schedules and appeared disorganized. Not only does it show a lack of respect for your guests’ time but it reflects poorly on your organizational skills. To avoid being the talk of the town take time to learn about the wedding run sheet and what a wedding reception timeline should look like.

So, without further ado here is what your traditional wedding reception schedule of events should resemble:

1. Cocktail Hour

Duration: 1 Hour

Cocktail hour ushers guests into the first phase of your reception. Ideally, this is the time your guests get a chance to mix and mingle while family photos are being taken. As a couple, you’ll probably miss out on this part so ensure that there’s plenty of entertainment perhaps in the form of a live band or a DJ to keep things running smoothly. Platters of food and drink should be readily available.

2. Invite Guests to Sit Down for Dinner

Duration: 15 Minutes

As soon as the bride and groom arrive from their photoshoot, have someone start inviting guests to proceed to their seats to get ready for the wedding dinner. The bride and groom can take the time this is happening to freshen up.

3. Bride and Groom Entrance

Duration: 10 Minutes

With your guests all seated, it’s time to make your grand entrance as husband and wife into the reception space. Today couples are opting to make their debut entrance through song and dance. It’s up to you really how you wish to be introduced to your guests at this time.

4. First Dance of the Night

Duration: 5 Minutes

While everyone is still in festive spirits, this is the ideal time to slot in your first dance as a couple. You’ll likely have people join you after the first song, so you might like to slot in extra time for this.

5. Welcome Remarks and Toasts

Duration: 5 Minutes

After the first dance, a family member should welcome guests. This toast should not devolve into a speech about the bride and groom. Instead, it should merely be a courtesy call to welcome guests and hope they enjoy the meal, anything beyond five minutes is now a speech!

6. Dinner Is Served

Duration: 45 Minutes

Depending on what type of catering you’ve chosen, this can take 45 minutes to an hour. If you’ve selected a family-style traditional sit-down meal, then your service staff will be on-hand to ensure that serving is carried out in an orderly fashion. If you’ve gone with a buffet, you might need to give more leeway as self-service can take slightly longer.

7. Wedding Party Toasts Bride and Groom

Duration: 10 Minutes

While meals are being served, this is the perfect moment for members of your wedding party to take it in turns to say a few words about you. This doesn’t have to be everyone in your train. It can simply be the maid-of-honor and the best man. Let people know ahead of time that their wedding speeches should not exceed four minutes maximum.

8. Dances with the Parents

Duration: 10 Minutes

There is nothing like that father-daughter dance or that mother-son dance. It’s a special and intimate moment. Once this is over, however, cue your DJ or band to take over with some high-energy songs that are sure to get people moving onto the dance floor!

9. Bouquet and Garter Toss.

Duration: 10 Minutes

In a normal wedding reception timeline, while people are still on the dance floor, you’d gather them around for the bouquet and garter toss. Many people are now, however, choosing to do away with these two traditions. So, if these aren’t quite up to your alley, feel free to skip them.

10. Cutting the Cake

Duration: 10 Minutes

Cake cutting can ideally be done towards the end of the traditional wedding ceremony timeline. The service staff should be ready to start passing dessert and getting coffee out to guests. Most people will start leaving after this moment as this signals that the event is coming to a close. Use this time to thank your guests one last time.

11. Final Dance and Exit

Duration: 5 Minutes

Some couples usually have one last song before they make their grand exit. Once the dance is over, your wedding party can send you off with much fanfare amid sparklers or you can opt for celebratory bells instead.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is what a traditional reception event timeline looks like.

Instead of a diamond ring, the man offers an obiljezje, which is a piece of fruit such as an apple with coins pressed into it. The acceptance of the fruit by the lady symbolizes their engagement. This is a very old Croatian wedding tradition that is not seen in other countries.

2. Buying the Bride

On the wedding day, the groom first heads to his bride’s parents’ house together with an ensemble of musicians or other groomsmen to woo the bride. This is one of the most amusing Croatian wedding customs where decoy brides are often offered up.

3. The Walks to Church

Everyone then heads to the church for the ceremony as one person carries the Croatian flag. Flag carriers are called the barjaktar and they wave the flag around for the entire procession, whooping and shouting as they go.

4. Rosemary and Donations

As guests enter the wedding reception, they are given little bundles of rosemary wrapped in the ribbon which is pinned to their left side as a sign of welcome. Guests normally leave a donation in exchange for their rosemary pins.

5. The Ceremony

The wedding ceremony is usually catholic but many couples today decide to confirm their love in different wedding venues. A professional photographer takes a bunch of photos in front of the church.

6. At the Reception

The bride and groom participate in various light-hearted activities at the reception like a game to determine who will be the boss of the house.

7. Dance with the Bride

Another Croatian wedding tradition is the dance with the bride which usually starts at midnight. The guests have a chance to dance with the bride, in exchange for money.

8. The Real Party

After the wedding ceremony, it’s time to head to the wedding venue, to eat, drink and be merry until the morning.

9. The 3 AM Goulash

After a day and night of drinking, guests are served either goulash or sarma (rolled cabbage stuffed with mince and rice), and in some areas fish stews plus coffee.

10. Wedding Gifts

During one part of the evening, guests bring their presents to the couple and in almost every case, money is the gift presented in an envelope.

Unique Indian Wedding Traditions You Didn’t Know About

Are you keen to learn more about Indian wedding traditions?

India is a diverse country with unique cultures, religions, and beliefs. As a result, there are plenty of interesting Indian wedding traditions you probably don’t know about. One thing that’s certain however is that Indian weddings are fun, dynamic, and very colorful!

Here are six unique traditions we bet you’ve never heard of.

1.Misri – Sweet Blessings for the Future

One of the first things to know about Indian weddings is that they typically last three days. And during these three days, there are a host of ceremonies held in between. The very first of these is a ceremony known as Misri. Misri is simply rocking sugar that the groom’s parents give their son’s bride. The significance of this gift is the blessings of a sweet future. In addition, the couple is adorned with garlands of flowers and exchange prayers as well as their wedding bands.

2. Sangeet Party – Dance the Night Away!

Bollywood has certainly taught us that no Indian wedding reception is complete without dancing! And this is exactly what the sangeet party is all about. This is where the women get together for some fun through song and dance. This ceremony can be attended by both sides of the family and can also be merged with the Mehendi ceremony.

3. Mehendi (Henna Ceremony) – Intricate Patterns in Preparation

Henna is an integral part of life for Indian women. Indian women celebrate life and love through the designs drawn on their hands and feet. A day before the wedding, the bride and her female relatives spend time adorning themselves with henna. The patterns chosen are meant to illustrate the love that will be shared between the bride-to-be and her future husband. The Sagri ceremony and Mehendi ceremony can be done at the same time.

4. Haldi Ceremony – Calming the Bride and Groom

Cold feet on the morning of the wedding are common. Indian culture has a solution for that in an intimate ceremony known as Haldi whereby both groom and bride’s family take some of the clothes of the couple and spread a mixture of water and oil over them. In addition, turmeric is rubbed over the skin of the couple. This is a form of blessing and is believed to help calm them down.

5. Mandap Ceremony – Exchange of Vows

No traditional Indian wedding is complete without some Indian wedding decorations – the more colorful the better. And one custom that has been upheld to this day is having the wedding ceremony under a mandap which is simply a four-pillared canopy that’s exquisitely decorated often with flowers and cloth.

6. Laja Homa – a Blessing from the Brother

Indian weddings have ceremonies within ceremonies! One such ceremony that takes place during the actual wedding is Laja Homa. It’s when the bride’s brother pours rice into his sister’s cupped hands. Some of the rice falls through her hands into the groom’s hands which are just beneath hers and fall into the Agni (traditional fire).

Complete List of Egyptian Wedding Traditions

Are you looking for some Egyptian traditions for your wedding?

An Egyptian wedding is a very special historic ceremony that has been carried on from generation to generation since the times of the Pharaohs. Although Egypt has been exposed to many civilizations, such as Greek, Roman, and Islam, many of the traditions of ancient Egyptian marriages still remain in modern Egyptian weddings. Here is a complete list of Egyptian wedding traditions.

1. Egyptian weddings

Although arranged marriages are not quite the norm anymore, when it comes to Egyptian weddings, they still are not an unusual occurrence. Once both families have given their approval, a marriage agreement is drawn up.

2. The mahr and shabka

The marriage agreement is made up of two parts, the mahr, and the shabka, where the groom has to bring two gifts to the girl’s family. The “mahr” is a sum of money that a groom-to-be pays to the girl’s family, while the “shabka” is a tradition where the groom gives to his wife-to-be jewelry.

3. The engagement

The engagement period gives the couple time to get to know each other. The bride’s family will host the engagement party at home or more often at a hotel with wedding decorations of several kinds of flowers and lights.

4. Wedding rings

The symbolism of the wedding ring is said to date back to Ancient Egyptian culture. Wedding rings are said to represent the perfect circle or marriage not ending.

5. The Henna night

Egyptian women have a henna party for the bride and her female cousins and friends which is held a day or two before the wedding ceremony. This night is usually themed, mostly with girls wearing belly-dancing outfits.

6. Egyptian wedding ceremony

The Egyptian wedding ceremony starts with a car parade with wedding decorations of flowers and ribbons. When the bride and groom reach the hotel they are received by a “Zaffa” (procession), another human parade of belly dancers and drummers. Christian couples celebrate their marriage in a church conducted by a priest with prayers and readings from the Bible.

Muslims hold a wedding ceremony called “katb el katb” which is performed by the Maa’zoun in the local mosque or at the house. The ‘Mahr’ and ‘Moa’khar’ are written in the contract during the ceremony. The ’Moa’khar’ is the money a Muslim bride receives in case of a divorce.

7. Cutting of the cake

As elsewhere in the world couples cut the wedding cake, which is several layers high and feed each other. The bride then tosses her flower bouquet behind her back to other hopeful females. The wedding celebration is marked by plenty of food and drinking of a traditional sweet drink called “sharbat” which is prepared from various fruits and herbs.

Below are the 5 most important Chinese wedding traditions you should know about.

1. Chinese tea ceremony

The tea ceremony is a traditional formal ceremony to introduce both families together. Only the family participates in this tradition and a feast is served with everyone invited once the wedding ceremony is over.

2. Chinese wedding banquet

The double happiness symbol is engraved in most but not all Chinese wedding invitations.

Wedding Wishes: What to Write in a Wedding Card
Wedding Tips

Wedding Wishes: What to Write in a Wedding Card

Are You Trying to Decide What to Write in a Wedding Card?

After shopping long and hard to find the perfect wedding card for the soon-to-be-married couple you can then have a pretty rough time figuring out what to write in it. However, drafting the perfect wedding message doesn’t have to be difficult at all as there are no hard-and-fast rules about what to write in a wedding card. Here are some great wedding wishes to offer your congratulations to the bride and groom.

1. Wedding Card Etiquette

Wedding cards are customary for anyone wanting to send wedding wishes to an engaged or newly married couple. You may want to bring the card to the wedding reception or mail it directly to the couple whenever you wish. Congratulations for a wedding are welcome anytime by any couple.

Wedding cards come in many different formats, from standard greeting cards to homemade cards, small tags attached to gifts and even simple, digitally created wedding messages that are printed and sent to the couple with their gift.

2. Can One Use the Term “Congratulations?”

Yes, “Congratulations” is often the basic message people want to express in their wedding greetings. It serves as a support as well as celebratory remark to say to the couple even if you’ve never met one of the marrying couples. However, if the couple happens to be very traditional or come from a very traditional family, you may want to just write “best wishes.”

3. What to Write in a Wedding Card

A perfect wedding wish should be sweet and full of sentimental value and completely tailored to the couple. If you and the couple are lifelong friends, you may want your message to be a little more heartfelt, conveying how happy you are that they’ve found each other. On the other hand, if your relationship is casual it’s best to stick to something more straightforward like “best wishes for a fun-filled future together.”

If you are really good friends with the bride and groom and they both have a good sense of humor, a funny wedding wish may be much appreciated. If they are more reserved, formal wedding wishes like “May your love shine throughout the years” will be great. If the couple is religious and you share their faith, a spiritual verse or sentiment inspired by the bible will be well-received.

For your family that know you best and whom you know best, like your mom, dad, or your siblings, you’ll want to create an over the top wedding wish. Remember to mention the new addition to the family. Before you sign your name on the card be sure to add a sweet warm closing for the couple.

Wedding Ceremony
Wedding Tips

Creative Ways to Personalize Your Wedding Ceremony

Do you want to personalize your wedding ceremony, but don’t know where to start?

Wedding ceremonies come in all forms and it’s up to you and your future spouse (as well as your officiant) to decide how you’d like the proceedings to go. There are several ways to make your ceremony feel like you and represent your love, little touches that will make your ceremony truly feel personal. Here are some creative ways to make your wedding ceremony more personal.

1. Let Your Wedding Officiant Get to Know You

Your ceremony will largely be led by your officiant, so it’s important to choose someone who is keen to get to know you and your spouse and will be able to understand your personalities, your story, and any special needs or desires you may have.

2. Add Heirloom Accessories

One way to personalize your wedding ceremony is by including accessories or other items passed down from family members or friends, like your great-grandmother’s handkerchief or brooch, or a religious item that has been part of your family for generations.

3. Share Photos

If you can, display photos of you and your spouse in the entryway to your ceremony space so that your guests can have a quick summary of your history as a couple.

4. Involve the Little Ones

Children can add a light-hearted and fun-loving touch to a wedding ceremony. You can have your flower girl or page boy making their way up the aisle with a sign in hand announcing the bride’s arrival or have them carry the wedding rings on special cushions or in an engraved box.

5. Choose Meaningful Music That You Love

Some ceremonies require specific musical selections, but if you have any flexibility in the score of your ceremony, choose songs with some significance to you as a couple.

6. Set Up a Cool Seating Arrangement

Another way to personalize your wedding ceremony is to mix up your ceremony seating arrangement and get your guests to mingle, if your ceremony venue has flexibility, keeping in mind your guests’ comfort.

7. Include a Unique Ritual

You may choose to include a unique ritual, like a handfasting, wine, candle lighting, or sand ceremony into your wedding ceremony, with the approval of your officiant.

8. Add Your Own Vows

Make your vows extra special and meaningful by adding in some words of your own. This will make your wedding ceremony absolutely your own. Be sure to use your officiant as a resource or sounding board.

9. Have a Fun Recessional

Now that you are married, it’s time to celebrate. Choose upbeat music for this exciting time and if your venue allows, you can ask your guests to toss confetti or pom-poms, paper planes, blow bubbles, or wave ribbon wands or flags.

Wedding Food Stations: The Best Wedding Catering Ideas

Looking for Something Unique to Serve on Your Wedding Day?

Most couples are moving away from a sit-down three or four-course meal where the food is brought to guests by wait-staff to wedding food stations, a delicious trend that’s always customisable. Here is how food stations are the best wedding catering ideas.

1. Wedding Food Stations That You Can Do Yourself

You can easily prepare these food stations in advance, especially if you’ve got access to the venue the day before the wedding.

2. Popcorn Station

Popcorn stations are probably the easiest and cheapest stations to set up, offering a perfect little light snack that’s easy to eat on the go.

3. Sweet Bars and Candy Buffets

Sweet bars and candy buffets can range from nostalgic childhood favourites to artisan treats like marshmallows, fudge, rock candy or mini meringues.

4. Wedding Food Stations That Require Some Help

Spoilable food items like cheese or desserts with fresh cream will still need the co-operation of the venue and/or catering staff to store in their refrigerators and put out at the correct time.

5. Grazing Tables

For the couple who love a cheese and charcuterie board, the grazing table offers a selection of cold meats, cheeses, antipasti, dips, bread, crackers, salads and fruits.

6. Cake, Dessert and Treat Tables

Cake tables present another special wedding catering idea and are a great alternative to traditional desserts or as an extra sweet treat throughout the day.

7. Donut Walls and Stations

Everyone loves donuts and you can mix and match flavours, shapes and sizes, or let your guests get creative with delicious glazes or fun sprinkles.

8. Pie Station and Pie Bar

Perfect for autumn and winter weddings, pie bars are a super twist on the cake table trend and can be served as slices, mini pies or pie pops for guests to eat on the go.

9. S’mores or Milk and Cookie Bar

S’mores are a combination of malted milk biscuits, melted marshmallows, and your favourite chocolate and work well in an outdoor wedding.

10. Wedding Food Stations Best Left to the Experts

For these food stations, you can either hire a mobile supplier who will take care of everything, or do part of the job yourself and hire a chef or server to man the station during the wedding.

11. Pizza Bars

Pizza is fast becoming a popular and affordable choice at rustic celebrations and you can stick with classics like Margherita and pepperoni or design your own pizza.

12. Sushi and Asian Food Stations

Hire a chef to make fresh sushi rolls to impress your guests and with help from your venue staff, you can create some great sushi variations.

13. Ice Cream Bar

Ice cream always impresses and is a firm favourite with guests young and old.

Great Ideas on the Content of Wedding Speeches

Are you preparing to deliver a speech at a wedding reception and not sure what to say?

Wedding speeches are very important and the format and content of the wedding speech need to be meticulously planned out.

The good news is that traditional wedding speeches tend to follow a set order and the content of each speech is largely predetermined. Here are some great ideas on the content of the wedding speeches.

1. Toast to the Bride and Groom

The bride’s father or a close family friend usually gives this speech. This speech sets the tone for the other speeches and is a great opportunity to say a few words about the bride. The best man also takes the opportunity to say a few words about the groom.

The speech normally includes a welcome to the guests, compliments, and praises for his daughter, a welcome to the new son-in-law, and his parents wishing the couple well for their future together and lastly a toast to the health and happiness of the bride and groom.

2. The Groom’s Speech

Traditionally the groom replies on behalf of the bride and normally starts by thanking the father of the bride or the first speaker for his speech and he’s toast.

He then says something about how happy he is and compliments his new wife, thanking the bride’s parents for producing such a beautiful daughter and for bringing her up so well.

This is usually followed by a declaration of his love for the bride, thanking the guests and all who had a part to play towards the wedding, thanking the best man and the ushers as well as the bridesmaids. He may also toast to the bridesmaids and the hosts.

3. The Best Man’s Speech

The best man’s speech is regarded by many people as the highlight of all the speeches as he replies on behalf of the bridesmaids, His role is to thank the groom for his toast to the bridesmaids and he also has the opportunity to tell some funny and appropriate stories about the groom and his past.

He personally congratulates the groom on his choice of the bride and concludes his speech by reading key messages from absent friends and relatives. He ends his wedding speech with a final toast to the happy couple.

Nowadays, the bride, and sometimes the bridesmaid/maid of honor, can also get to say a few words, and usually, these toasts come between the groom and best man.

The longer speeches might continue with the toast to the parents of the bride and groom and responses by the parents of the bride and groom, respectively.

Then the Master of Ceremonies finally winds up the wedding speeches by thanking all those who made a special contribution to the wedding.

Effective Tricks for a Stress-Free Wedding Day

10 Effective Tricks for a Stress-Free Wedding Day

Are you feeling overwhelmed by all the pre-wedding preparations?

A wedding is probably the biggest and memorable event you will ever throw, so it is important that you enjoy it. Although it is an exciting time, it can also be stressful sometimes. Here are 10 effective tricks for a stress-free wedding day.

1. Hire a Day-Of Coordinator

Hiring a wedding specialist to handle the details on an actual day will alleviate so much stress. This enables you to be a guest at your wedding.

2. Keep It Simple

Avoid lining up many activities like manicures, pedicures, and salon trips on the morning of the wedding. This way, you’ll have more time to relax and enjoy your amazing day.

3. Get Your Beauty Done by Professionals

Consider hiring a professional to do your hair and makeup at your home or the venue where you’re getting ready, on the morning of your wedding.

4. Avoid Checking in on Your Venue Beforehand

It can be tempting on the wedding day to peek in or drive by the reception site while everyone is setting up. It is best to wait for the big reveal when everything is in place.

5. Have Someone That Knows How to Bustle Your Dress

Make sure you have a friend or relative who can bustle the train if you have one. This person should practice and stick around even after the ceremony to button you into shape.

6. Plan to Be Ready Early

You need to plan to be ready at least an hour earlier than you should be leaving for your ceremony so that you don’t panic even if there are any delays during the morning.

7. Hire Experienced Suppliers

Always hire experienced wedding suppliers as they know all the tricks of a smoothly-run wedding day. This will take a big weight off your mind on the wedding day.

8. Assign a Photo Wrangler

Do not waste any of your time trying to get everyone you need to be in your pictures. Delegate someone ahead of time, a family member or close friend who is familiar with everyone.

9. Have Backup

Put other people in charge of a backup plan, delegate, and let go of any control. Have a backup prepared, like a local taxi number in case the wedding car breaks down or create a playlist on the laptop in case the band doesn’t show up.

10. Enjoy the Day Together

Make a date with your new spouse during the reception, even if it’s just for 5 or 10 minutes. If your ceremony is at the same wedding reception venues, you can take a few moments to hang out in a dressing room.
